Closet Favorites: A-Line Skirt

I had my first blog photoshoot about two weeks ago with the lovely Yanira Amaya of Amaya Images. I was really nervous, I’ll be honest. I’m definitely not a model and have a long ways to go to be totally comfortable in front of the camera but she did a great job of helping me feel confident and teaching me how to pose. If you’re in the Southern California region, definitely check her out.

I’m excited to step up my blogging game and have quality photos. A self-timer and a tripod can only get you so far sometimes…so thank you very much Yanira! You’re the best.

This first outfit is one of my favorites in my closet. I always love a good floral pattern (I think my Instagram feed is proof of that) and was immediately drawn to this one when I found it online.

I paired it with a black tee, a floppy hat, I love a good floppy hat any time of year, and my favorite pair of heels that go with everything. I think everyone can use a pair like these in their closet. I’ll link ones with a shorter heel height if you’re heel wary like me. Although, I have to say, I walked all over downtown Oceanside in these and my feet were totally fine!

Had a quick Marylin moment here but I think it actually made the shot! Thanks random gust of wind. This is one reason I love this style of skirt so much, first of all, it’s flattering on virtually all shapes and sizes. When in doubt, grab an A-line skirt (it’s called an A-line because it comes away from the body, like the shape of an A). It highlights the smallest part of your body, your waist, and has incredible movement when you walk. These skirts were made for twirling! This one fits true to size (I’m wearing a small) and can easily be dressed up or down, I almost wore it for Easter this year actually. Would make a great wedding outfit or dress it down and wear it to brunch or for a day of shopping. Or be like me and wear it around the house even if you don’t have somewhere to be! Never underestimate the power of a good skirt. Those are words to live by.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see some more pictures from our shoot? I’m definitely excited to share them!

‘Til next time.
