I shared this recipe over on my Instagram stories this week and received a lot of messages about a formal recipe! I actually never follow a recipe when I make this, just throw things in until it tastes good. I can’t remember where this came from, I think I modified a recipe I found on the internet somewhere about a year or two ago. It changes every time but here’s the basic recipe. Feel free to make it your own! Add different seasonings, veggies, try out different sauces, it’s all up to you, that’s the beauty of it!
I make this dish about once a week to be honest. I’m surprised Nick isn’t sick of it yet! Maybe it’s because I mix it up and make it taste slightly different every time, regardless this is the best dish for those nights where you just don’t want to make dinner but you don’t want to order take out. It’s actually pretty healthy and warms up great the next day for lunches. I like to make a big batch and eat it throughout the week. It’s super easy to throw together and it’s a one skillet dish which means clean-up is super easy too. That’s my kind of recipe!
Ground Turkey and Green Bean Skillet
1 lb ground turkey
1 jar of pasta sauce (Muir Glen Garden Vegetable is my favorite, you can check on their website to see who sells it in your area. Make sure whatever sauce you’re using has no sugar added!)
Handful of green beans (I actually use frozen ones, I find they hold their shape better)
Chopped green pepper
Chopped yellow onion
Red pepper flakes
- Brown the ground turkey in a large skillet over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper.
- Once the turkey is cooked through, add the pasta sauce. If adding additional seasoning or veggies, add those now.
- Add the green beans to the skillet. Stir frequently. Reduce to a simmer and cook until green beans are softened, usually about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve warm!
And that’s it. Super easy right? Let me know if you end making this and what you think!
